My newest erotica now published on ERWA

the pornographer has returned. after a hiatus of 4 years or so, i am once more writing transgressive fiction, sometimes to arouse, sometimes to provoke. here are some fresh hot tales published on the Erotica Readers and Writers Association web site. Thank you to Adrienne & the staff of ERWA & the excellent editors. Please check out the entire gallery for fun & entertaining stories of various kinds.

Here are my September offerings:

The Bi Guy concerns a man, a woman & a hot guy in an elevator.

The Graffiti Artist is the tale of a rebellious young woman's adventures with two men: a professor and an art curator.

Dirty Little Religion, which takes its title from the Warren Zevon song, is a blasphemous bit of flash fiction involving a woman, a man and a priest.

Sextina: whore of b. 2012 is my bawdy list poem attempt to play with the sestina & was inspired by the Whore of Babylon from the Bible & Chaucer's Canterbury Tales, specifically the Wife of Bath's tale.

i hope you enjoy. and no, these are probably not safe for work.

my upcoming above/ground press reading: preamble

i am not one to preface poems i read from with a lot of talk. i want people listening to be able to be in the poem, rather than taken out of it by my banter. consider this a preamble:

i will be reading selections from ghazals against the gradual demise, including

1. Instigator (Hafiz)
i read a few of these at Tree's open mic on July 12.
thanks to Rod Pederson for recording & posting on YouTube.
2. Sex First & Then A Sandwich (Jim Harrison's Outlyer & Ghazals)
3. February (Adrienne Rich's Blue Ghazals)
4. ghazals in the silent eye (after Max Ernst)

thank you to the Ontario Arts Council Writers ReserveProgram, the City of Ottawa Creation and Production Fund for Emerging Artists, above/ground press publisher rob mclennan

Chapbooks being launched by above/ground press at the reading:

Cameron Anstee, Regarding Renewal
Stephen Brockwell, Excerpts from Impossible Books, The Crawdad Cantos
Amanda Earl, Sex First & Then A Sandwich
Marilyn Irwin, flicker

the reading will take place on Thursday, August 9, 2012 at the Mercury Lounge, 56 Byward; doors 7pm; reading 7:30pm $5 includes an above/ground press chapbook. further info here.

happy 19th anniversary above/ground press!

the Proust Questionnaire: my answers at Open Book Ontario

this was fun...thanks to Erin Knight of Open Book Ontario & rob mclennan...

"Poet, small press publisher and pornographer Amanda Earl is an exuberant Ottawa enthusiast, her home now for a quarter century. Sex First & Then A Sandwich, her latest chapbook, will be launched at the 19th anniversary celebration of above/ground press at Ottawa's Mercury Lounge on August 9. She'll be joined by Cameron Anstee, Marilyn Irwin and Stephen Brockwell. Visit our Events Page for more details.

In Amanda's delightful and honest response to the Proust Questionnaire, she tells us about leather and cheesecake, synaesthesia and near-death experiences.

The Proust Questionnaire was not invented by Marcel Proust, but it was a much loved game by the French author and many of his contemporaries. The idea behind the questionnaire is that the answers are supposed to reveal the respondent's "true" nature."
